Hamilton Park Is Bringing The Soul back to R&B

Hamilton Park is a new R&B group that has been recently signed on to Andre Harrell’s new label at Atlantic records.  The groups name stems from Hamilton Park located in the peach state where group members Anthony, Mr. Marcus Lee, Chris Voice, and Roy P use to play basketball at. The young men originally met at church as teenagers, and as the years progressed formed a brotherly  bond that has kept them together singing in the church and now professionally.

The group had met Andre Harrell when he was in Atlanta doing the Radio One “Superstar Soul Search” (which was a bid to find new talent) and the boys were suppose to audition for it but missed the registration deadline and as fate has it, an and an on-air personality asked Harrell  if he’d ever heard of Hamilton Park. Andre  then called L7 Entertainment and the members of Hamilton Park auditioned for him in his hotel room singing the National Anthem, and according to Hamilton Park after that audition the rest was history.

Hamilton Park is very excited to have someone like Harrell on their team. This man has bought us artist like Mary J Blige, Guy (Who is one of my favorite groups) , Jodeci, and Robin Thicke. He is also the man who created the artist/mogul as we all know as P Diddy. Diddy started off as an intern for Harrell and became an A&R person at Atlantic Records back in the day.

Over the summer Hamilton Park performed on the Scream Tour which has been known to be a great tour for up and coming artist. Chris Brown was on that tour once upon a time. Now look where he is!

In an interview with barkbiteblog.com the group was asked how they came up with  one of their songs called Thing Called Us which I absolutely love. Hamilton Park stated  That came from experiences that we had, being young men. Coming from our relationships, you know the women always saying we don’t this and we don’t do that. Sometimes we become so prideful and we have that one-track mind. We just wanted to give a record to the ladies because we know that without them, this love in the universe would be missing. We consider ourselves to be connoisseurs of love. And “Thing Called Us” exudes that.

This group definitely reminds me of some of my favorite old skool groups like New Edition and Jodeci.  They guys can unquestionably sing and I love how in their Computer Love video the opening is just like the New Edition video If It isn’t Love.  Nice job gentlemen!   These guys are very talented, and I can’t wait to see where 2012 brings them!
