Action Bronson was born in NY to Albanian immigrant parents, and hails from Queens, NY. You’d never think just by looking at the 29 year old rapper that before getting into the rap game he was also a resected fine dining chef in New York City. On some of Bronson’s tracks you’ll actually hear the kid rhyming about his food.
Bronson even hosted his own cooking show called “Action In the Kitchen”. In an interview last month with the village voice, this fine dinning, up and coming hip hop rapper/chef said that best thing he had eaten all year long was “a risotto with a seared bone marrow and a veal reduction on top” he had while he was in a Milan. Definitely not something you would hear from your every day rap artist.
When I first heard Action Bronson I immediately thought of Ghostface Killah, whom Bronson has gained fame for resembling the world renowned rap artist both lyrically and stylistically. Action states, “Yeah, I mean at the end of the day, it’s all good because Ghostface Killah is one of the best rappers alive, so if I sound similar to the best rapper alive then that is fine. To me there is no comparison; he is a legend and I am a newcomer. I am not upset but at the end of the day I am my own person and no one can take that away from me.”
Action has been featured twice on Alchemists’ new album as well A$SAP Rocky’s. Blue Chip’s is his latest album that has definitely been getting the recognition it deserves, and according to the artist he has been working on a few mixtape projects that should be out by summer.
After watching the video from “The Symbol” which is a track off his mixtape ‘Rare Chandeliers’ I definitely thought that it was different and that conceptually in my opinion he elevates the style of storytelling. At time his lyrics were really hard hitting and raw, but his laid back speech made it feel like I was listening to someone have a conversation, and it made me draw more into the words
In April, Action will be performing at Coachella, and hopefully will be jumping on some summer tours and rolling to a city near you! Let us know what you think of this up and coming rapper.
