Growing up in a household that played mostly the 5th Dimension and The Beatles, this LA native definitely had a high chance of getting involved with music. At the age of 16 Alex Goose began crafting songs on a sampling keyboard, but didn’t think about a career in the music industry until college. He attended Savannah College of the Arts & Design majoring in Graphic Design, and for him music quickly became his central outlet for creativity. After graduating in 2008 he headed to Atlanta to get the ball running on his music career.
Alex Goose claim to fame thus far has been a critically acclaimed set of tracks that was as an submitted to Jay Z for The Blueprint 3 EP. Even though none of Gooses track was used for the EP Alex Goose released the tracks as an instrumental project called the Blue Print 3 Outtakes, and in its first week there were 10,000 downloads, and close to half a million hits that assured this project an international success.
Alex Goose looks to icons like Rick Ruben and George Martin as key influences for staying away from the beat maker description of what a producer is in current music. Goose states Their ideas are what make them great producers. Its great not about how well they can play an instrument or mix a record. Without a great idea, you have nothing at all.
This producer has a designers brain and a musicians heart. This 24 year old who is a freelance designer by day, and a music junkie and producer by night says When I produce an artist I like to have full creativity over everything–So when I produce their music I also want to produce their visuals to it all makes sense and ties into one concept. When I make something it’s more human based, I guess you could say. Like, I see more visuals of people and interactions. I almost get scenes from movies that haven’t really been made yet, in my head. Like, if this song was playing in a movie, this is what would be happening.
A lot of people has described his sound as a mix between Coldplay and Paul McCartney while incorporating other unlikely musical styles. As he works on musical projects with artists like U.S. Royalty, Jake Troth, Danny Swain (new album to be released soon), Brittany Bosco, Jessica Tonder, and others, Goose hopes for producing unique music are only limited by the number of hours in a day. I can’t wait to see what Alex brings to the world in the New Year.
