I couldn’t believe it when I heard that within less than 24 hours of being released from an Arkansas minimum security prison and on his way to a halfway house, award winning rapper TI is back in jail. What the hell happened was my first question? TI’s halfway house where he would have been spending the remainder of his sentence is located in Atlanta, GA. And to get to the facility TI’s options was to either A- Have the Bureau of Prisons give him a ride, or B- Find his own way out there. Tip chose option B and was picked up by a luxury coach from the prison and his entire posse trailing the bus in black SUVs, and evidently Option B was an instant “Go To Jail” move.
According to the authorities, inmates that are still under custody in low or medium security are allowed to travel in transport without an escort from prison to a halfway house, however they must specify to them what type of vehicle they will be using. What is being reported is that the rapper did not tell the authorities about the tour bus at all, but just mentioned that his mode of transportation would be in a van.
T.I’s lawyer Steve Sadow says that he believes that the whole incident is a misunderstanding.
We are confident there was never any intent to mislead or to misstate the method of transportation. If there was some confusion or misunderstanding surrounding the method of transportation, we hope to clear it up quickly so T.I. can return to the halfway house.
T.I.s prison status is still currently listed as ‘in transit’ on the official website of the Arkansas Federal Penitentiary.
In the meantime, the rappers wife Tameka Tiny Cottle is very furious about the entire situation and has told TMZ that the police officials knew the entire time about her husbands transportation plans, and she even posed for pictures with her man in front of the bus.
