If you haven’t listened to “All Good Everything” by up and coming Trinidadian rapper Trinidad James then I suggest you stop reading now, and go to You Tube ASAP! This video has become a viral hit with over 10 million views. This 25-year-old MC has been trying to wrap his head around his viral stardom. James states “”To be honest with you, man, it’s a learning experience,” says the flamboyant Atlanta MC, 25. “It’s a very fast, big learning experience.”
Trinidad James has only been rapping for the last two years, and already has struck a major record deal with Def Jam Recordings, and recently has started his own record label Gold Gang Records. In January Def Jam released Trinidad’s breakthrough debut mixtape Don’t be S.A.F.E., which includes the remix of “All Gold Everything” featuring rap artist Young Jeezy, T.I., and 2 Chainz. This single has charted on the Billboard Hot 100 List as well as the R&B/Hip-Hop charts.
Check out the video here if you haven’t. I got the remix for ya! Interestingly enough the line “Popped a molly, I’m sweating!” really stood out for fans and Trinidad really has no reason why. “Honestly, man, I could not understand why that particular line connected with people,” he says. “The reason why I did it is because the first time I tried molly, I got really hot. Like, it was a real expression. That’s how real my music is”, he says.
When you first see Trinidad James you may think his style of dress is a it flamboyant, but I think he pulls his looks off well and it goes hand in had with his persona. Trinidad worked as a manager in a street wear boutique for four years and says that’s where he picked up his rather unique fashion sense you see him rocking in the video. James says “I’m not scared to wear anything, for the most part – if I feel like I look good in it, I will wear it. So when I did the video, I thought of the most hyped-up outfit I would want to wear to really represent me, the person, and that’s what I came up with: the red slacks rolled up, Versace loafers, that leopard-print shirt from my favorite brand, Joyrich, and my Trinidad flag, repping my country, tied to the front so you know it’s real.”
T.J. will be featured on the cover of XXL Magazine with the rest of the Freshman Class, which should be hitting the shelves this month. Also be on the lookout to see Trinidad and the rest of XXL’s Freshman Crew on the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour Presents: XXL Freshmen Live 2013.
