Age is definitely just a number when it comes to rapping because this 22 year old up and coming artist that hales from Maryland sounds like he’s been doing this forever. Logic in my opinion is an artist that is not only going to go far in the rap game, but will also be remembered for giving the world something fresh, innovative, lyrical and raw.
Logic who has been making music for the last couple of years, gives you the feeling like you’re back in the late nineties, and to tell you the truth there isn’t anything wrong with that. Logic says that he is inspired by the Hip-Hop that has helped redefine the culture and the gene throughout the 90s. The young rapper is inspired by artists and groups such as Jay-Z, Nas, Wu-Tang, and Gangstarr just to name a few.
Logic first fell in Love with Hip-Hop at the age of 15 years old. In an interview with AllHipHop.com he stated “ I don’t know if you’ve ever seen the movie Kill Bill, but the whole score is done by RZA from Wu-Tang. I didn’t really know Wu-Tang. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I knew your Nas’ and your Biggie’s and stuff but I wasn’t really that big into it. I always loved the music but when I listened to the score, I was into Anime and Kung-Fu movies and stuff and when I heard that I was just like “wow” The combination of Kung-Fu and Rap blew me away so I started listening to RZA, Raekwon, GZA, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Inspectah Deck, everybody, and it just opened up a whole new life for me, I guess.”
This is my favorite Logic Video. Young Sinatra III- Check it out!
Logic may be a hip-hop artist, but is heavily influenced by Frank Sinatra. Growing up, his mother would make him watch old black and white movies and that developed into a love for Sinatra as well as influenced on how he would carry himself, and interacted with others will grace, positivity, honor, and love. The rapper has said he always does his best to make sure he carries himself in a kind and intellectual manner. Logic in his music and in life refers to himself as a “Young Sinatra”
This May Logic will be dropping his fourth mixtape, Young Sinatra: Welcome to Forever, and just last month completed his first European tour. This summer he will be headlining a tour, The Welcome to Forever Tour, that will be supporting his upcoming mixtape. I would definitely check the kid out if he comes to a city or town near you!
